Pacers Johnny Furphy Suffers Torn ACL

Indiana Pacers forward Johnny Furphy will miss the remainder of the 2025-26 NBA season after suffering a torn ACL in his right knee.

Furphy landed awkwardly following a dunk in the 3rd quarter of Sunday’s 122-104 loss to the Toronto Raptors. After undergoing additional imaging on Monday, the team has confirmed that the 21 year old did indeed tear his ACL and will require surgery to correct the issue.

It’s yet another blow to a Pacers squad that’s been decimated by injuries dating back to Game 7 of the NBA Finals last year. Midway through the pivotal contest, guard Tyrese Haliburton went down with a torn Achilles, which has kept him out of action ever since.

Things didn’t improve from there as Andrew Nembhard (shoulder), T.J. McConnell (hamstring), Aaron Nesmith (knee), and Obi Toppin (foot) have all missed chunks of time as well. All those injuries have resulted in the team posting a 13-40 record which is 2nd worst in the league, a 109.4 offensive rating (last), and 117.2 defensive rating (21st) this season.

Prior to going down with his injury, Furphy had been averaging 5.1 points, and 4.4 rebounds per contest. Because Indiana has been so depleted, the 6’8″ forward has started 21 games this year, averaging just over 18 minutes of action per night.

With an average recovery time of 6-12 months, there’s a good chance that Furphy could also miss the start of the 2026-27 season as well. The native of Australia is currently in his second season with the Pacers after being selected by the team in the 2nd round of the 2024 NBA Draft.
