Nottingham Forest Fire Manager Sean Dyche

Nottingham Forest Fire Manager Sean Dyche

Premier League side Nottingham Forest has fired manager Sean Dyche following a 0-0 draw with Wolverhampton this week.

The 54 year old becomes the third manager that Nottingham has parted ways with this season, following the dismissals of Nuno Espírito Santo, and Ange Postecoglou earlier this year.

“Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that Sean Dyche has been relieved of his duties as head coach,” the club said in a prepared statement.

“We would like to thank Sean and his staff for their efforts during their time at the club and we wish them the best of luck for the future. We will be making no further comment at this time.”

It’s been a roller coaster ride of a season for fans of the “Tricky Trees”. The club currently sits in 17th place on the Premier League table with a 7-6-13 record. At the moment, they’re 3 points clear of the relegation zone with 12 games remaining on their league schedule.

Expectations were high for Nottingham this year following a 7th place finish last season. As a result, the club signed Espírito Santo to a 3 year extension in June. However things took a turn for the worse as the relationship between manager and ownership broke down, resulting in his firing just 3 months later.

The team brought in former Tottenham coach Postecoglou, but he too couldn’t get on the same page with owner Evangelos Marinakis resulting in his dismissal just 40 days into his run. For his part, Dyche appeared to know the dismissal was coming, telling reporters after the game “The owner has been fair to me, without a shadow of a doubt. If anyone chooses to change in football now, that’s their decision. We’ve all seen it.”

“People can demand change, and then it’s always whether they change or not. I just work very hard. I care about this club. I’ve made that clear. I’m working very hard.”

“If the owner wants to make a change, then that’s up to him, and that’s the way football is now, that’s just the reality of it.”

With just two wins in their last 10 matches, and the now well documented FA Cup exit at the hands of lower tier Wrexham, things are looking murky at best for the club heading into the homestretch of the Premier League campaign. According to reports, the team will interview former Wolves coach Vitor Pereira as a possible candidate to guide the team to the finish line.

The club will now have a week off before they begin their Europa League Playoff against Fenerbahce on February 19th.
