Buffalo Sabres forward Josh Norris is considered week-to-week with an upper body injury, and isn’t expected to play in the team’s upcoming 5 game road trip.
Norris was injured in Wednesday’s 5-2 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers and departed the contest in the 2nd period after logging 8:55 of ice time. He subsequently sat out Thursday and Saturday’s games vs. Montreal and Minnesota respectively.
Speaking to members of the press, head coach Lindy Ruff told them that the 26 year old would not be travelling with the team for their upcoming game vs. Carolina and that he was “not really recovering the way we had hoped”.
The native of Oxford, Michigan has had trouble staying healthy since being acquired by the Sabres in the Dylan Cozens trade. In total, he’s appeared in just 22 contests for Buffalo dating back to last season. During that time, he’s scored 7G and recorded 12A for 19 points.
Norris has already missed 25 games between October and December as he recovered from a different upper body injury sustained in the Sabres’ season opener. He also dealt with an oblique injury which ended his 2024-25 season, and has undergone multiple shoulder surgeries during his 6 seasons with the Senators.
In the mean time, Buffalo has recalled Konsta Helenius who leads Rochester in scoring with 30 points across 34 contests in an attempt to fill their need in their top 6. The Sabres currently sit in 5th place in the Atlantic Division with a 26-16-5 record, and hold the final wildcard spot if the playoffs were to begin today.
