The Montreal Alouettes have re-signed wide receiver Tyson Philpot to a new two year contract the team announced on Tuesday.
“This is excellent news for our team,” said Danny Maciocia, General Manager of the Montreal Alouettes. “Tyson is one of the best receivers in the league—he’s agile, fast, and if a ball comes near him, we know he’s going to catch it. He’s only 25; I believe he still hasn’t reached his ceiling. This is truly a great day for us.”
Despite being limited to just 12 games last season, the 25 year old caught 61 passes for 804 yards and 5 touchdowns for Montreal. Philpot has been an integral part of Montreal’s offence since being selected 9th overall in the 2022 CFL Draft, helping them to capture a Grey Cup title, and make a finals appearance again this past season.
The native of Delta, BC has been electrifying since joining the CFL, capturing the East Division rookie of the year award back in 2022. Since then however, he’s been hampered by a variety of injuries, limiting him to 13, 9, and 12 games int he subsequent years.
Nevertheless, he remains one of the top weapons in a balanced Alouettes offence, which will look to repeat as East champions in 2026. With his deal now in place, one of Maciocia’s biggest offseason priorities is officially put to rest.
