The Denver Nuggets will be without forward Aaron Gordon for the next 4-6 weeks after it was announced that he suffered a grade 2 hamstring strain in Friday’s game vs. Houston.
News of Gordon’s injury couldn’t be coming at a worse time as the Nuggets are already without Christian Braun who is sideline with an ankle sprain. Now they’ll need to navigate their November and December schedule without two key members of their offence in the ultra-competitive Western Conference.
Hamstring issues aren’t anything new for Gordon who dealt with bilateral hamstring issues earlier this year. He was also nursing a left hamstring strain during last season’s playoff run as well.
Thankfully Denver features a deeper bench than they did a year ago, with the likes of Peyton Watson, Bruce Brown, Tim Hardaway Jr., Cam Johnson, and Jonas Valanciunas expected to pick up the slack in Braun and Gordon’s absences. That depth will certainly be tested over the next few weeks as they continue their NBA Cup group stage play, followed by an Eastern Conference road trip, a Christmas Day game and a condensed schedule between the Holidays and early January.
The 6’8″ forward is currently averaging 18.8pts/5.9reb/1.3ast per contest, while shooting a career best 86.7% from the free throw line, and 44.4% from beyond the arc.
