Cole Perfetti Considered Week-to-Week With Injury

Winnipeg Jets Forward Cole Perfetti Week-to-Week with Ankle Injury

The Winnipeg Jets announced today that forward Cole Perfetti will be considered week-to-week due to an ankle injury sustained during Friday night’s pre-season matchup against the Calgary Flames. Head coach Scott Arniel confirmed the update following Sunday’s practice at Canada Life Centre.

Perfetti, 23, played 8:29 in the Jets’ 5–4 shootout victory over Calgary, recording an assist before leaving the game. The team medical staff evaluated the forward, determining that while the injury isn’t considered long-term, Perfetti will require time to recover and will miss the remainder of the pre-season schedule.

Perfetti is coming off a strong 2024–25 campaign, where he appeared in all 82 regular-season games, tallying 18 goals and 50 points. His consistent play and creativity with the puck made him a key contributor to Winnipeg’s balanced offensive attack. In the postseason, Perfetti added three goals and six points in 13 games, helping the Jets advance to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs before being eliminated by the Dallas Stars.

A native of Whitby, Ontario, Perfetti is entering the final season of his two-year, $6.5 million contract, which carries a $3.25 million annual cap hit. Following the conclusion of the 2025–26 season, he will become a restricted free agent.

Since being selected 10th overall in the 2020 NHL Draft, Perfetti has developed into one of Winnipeg’s most promising young talents. Across 222 career NHL games, he’s recorded 47 goals and 125 points, and was being counted on to be a key offensive contributor this season.

Jets General Manager Kevin Cheveldayoff expressed confidence that Perfetti will return to form once healthy. Nevertheless, the Jets have had a disastrous preseason, health-wise as they also lost defenceman Dylan Samberg for six-to-eight weeks with a broken wrist, Jonathan Toews’ suffered a tweak, and Captain Adam Lowry is out until November as he continues to recover from offseason hip surgery.

The Jets will kick things off on October 9th against the Dallas Stars in an 8pm ET showdown.
