Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill will miss the remainder of the 2025 NFL season after suffering multiple lower body injuries in his team’s Monday night win over the Jets.
Hill went down early in the 3rd quarter when he was tackled out of bounds and appeared to have his left leg twist awkwardly underneath him. The speedy wideout remained down for several minutes, ultimately needing to be carted off the field and requiring an overnight stay at a local hospital.
While the full extent of the damage won’t be known until doctors begin surgery, sources indicate that Hill suffered a dislocated knee, and tore multiple ligaments including his ACL.
While both Hill’s agent and head coach Mike McDaniel told reporters that the 31 year old was in good spirits, and was optimistic about the injury, the Dolphins will now need to climb out of their early season hole without their number 1 wide receiver. In his absence, Jaylen Waddle should see a significant uptick in targets, while 2nd year wideout Malik Washington is likely in line for some additional usage as well.
Miami also got back veteran tight end Darren Waller who previously retired from the NFL, but scored two touchdowns in his season debut on Monday.
“I feel like there will be a lot of guys in the receiver room that will have more opportunities to make plays. I have faith in them, especially from what I’ve seen over camp and the first few weeks,” Waller said. “Football is a game and a business where you got to move forward. There is no replacing [Hill], but I feel like we got guys that can get the job done.”
Up next for the Dolphins is a 1pm ET date on Sunday, October 5th vs. the Carolina Panthers as the club will look to adjust their offence to life without Hill.
