Bo Bichette To Miss Remainder Of Regular Season

According to reports, Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette will miss the remainder of the regular season with a sprained left knee.

Bichette has been sidelined with a PCL injury since September 7th and recently visited with Dr. Dan Cooper in Dallas on Monday for a second opinion. After reviewing imaging, it appears as though the 27 year old has avoided the need for surgery, but will require some time on the shelf to recover.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider stopped short of providing any firm timelines for his return when speaking with reporters. “The only time frame you can put on it right now is he’s not going to be back for the regular season…But I think he’s working hard to be back as soon as he can after.”

After a dismal 2024 campaign, Bichette has bounced back in 2025 hitting .311 with 94 RBIs, 78 runs scored, and 18 home runs through 139 contests for Toronto this season. Bichette’s bat has been a big reason why the Blue Jays currently sit atop the AL East with an 89-62 record.

While there remains a chance that the 2x All-Star returns to full health for the postseason, there’s also the possibility that he spends some time at DH in the playoffs rather than his usual position in the infield.

When asked whether it would be a pain tolerance issue that the team would need to monitor, Schneider told reporters it was more about comfort and whether the team’s young star looked confident in the batters box. “What that looks like, swinging the bat, running the bases, all that kind of stuff. That was part of the second opinion, too, making sure there was nothing we have to revisit and just seeing how he does as he ramps up.”

Toronto can do themselves, and Bichette a favour by locking up a first round bye, to earn an extra few days of rest. They’ll look to continue their winning ways on Wednesday as they continue their series against the Tampa Bay Rays at 7:05pm ET.
