Washington Commanders Sign Von Miller

The Washington Commanders and veteran defensive end Von Miller have come to terms on a 1 year deal, pending a physical the club announced.

Miller ranks 16th all-time on the career sacks list with 129.5, and figures to play a situational role for Washington to help bolster their pass rush. The 36 year old has split time between the Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Rams, and Buffalo Bills since being selected 2nd overall in the 2011 NFL Draft.

There’s some familiarity between Miller and the Commanders front office as GM Adam Peters was a member of the Broncos franchise when the team drafted him. According to reports, Washington did their homework before ultimately landing on the former Super Bowl MVP.

The club is believed to have done their due diligence on free agents DeMarcus Lawrence and Joey Bosa, and multiple high profile pass rushers in this year’s draft class. Ultimately the team landed on Miller for his locker room leadership, and the hope that he can be the missing piece for a title run like he was with the Rams back in 2021.

Buffalo released Miller earlier this spring in a cost saving effort, freeing up $8.4M in cap space.
