Former Manchester City defender Kyle Walker is set to join Burnley for the upcoming season after completing his medicals with the team on Friday.
The 35 year old will reportedly sign a two-year contract with the Clarets, coming back to the Premier League after spending the 2nd of last year on loan to AC Milan in the Serie A. Walker enjoyed a trophy filled run at Manchester City where he captured 17 championships, including 6 Premier League titles and a 2023 Champion’s League crown across 8 years.
The English international will reunite with former teammate Scott Parker, whom he spent time with between 2011-2013 as members of Tottenham’s squad. Walker joins fellow Burnley summer additions Axel Tuanzebe, Quilindschy Hartman, Max Weiss and Loum Tchaouna.
The deal is worth up to £5million, but is also contingent on Walker playing in 70 percent of Burnley’s games, and requires the Turf Moor club to avoid relegation. That figure will be a financial step backwards from the roughly £175,000 per week he had been earning at City.
Walker won’t need to wait long to make his return to the Etihad however, as Burnley is scheduled to visit Walker’s former club in a game week six showdown on September 27th.
