Terry Bollea, better known as wrestling icon Hulk Hogan, has passed away at the age of 71 years old on Thursday officials confirmed.
According to reports, Florida authorities in Clearwater responded to a call Thursday morning regarding a cardiac arrest victim. Hogan was taken to a nearby hospital where he was eventually pronounced dead police announced.
A WWE hall of fame inductee, Hogan was known world wide for his infamous clashes with Andre the Giant, Randy Savage, The Rock, and more. His stardom extended beyond the ring as well, having appeared in numerous Hollywood hits including Rocky 3, and Suburban Commando amongst others.
In a statement released by the WWE, the company said “One of pop culture’s most recognizable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s. WWE extends its condolences to Hogan’s family, friends, and fans.”
Hogan is survived by his daughter Brooke, son Nick, and wife of 2 years Sky Daily. Florida Police are believed to be preparing for a press conference to be held later Thursday afternoon.
