The 2025 NHL Draft lottery went down Monday night, and there was movement aplenty for the 16 teams involved. The New York Islanders won the first drawing, vaulting themselves from the 10th spot all the way up to No. 1. This, despite having only a 3.5% of winning the 1st overall pick heading into the lottery.
This was followed by a second drawing to determine who would select 2nd overall, which was won by the Utah Hockey Club who had the 14th longest odds to win prior to draft night. However, because the most they could move up was a maximum of 10 spots, they took over the 4th overall selection with the remaining teams slotting in according to their pre-lottery rankings.
When all was said and done, this was the order determined for the first 16 picks in the 2025 NHL Draft.
