Milwaukee Bucks Extend GM Jon Horst

The Milwaukee Bucks and general manager Jon Horst have come to terms on a new multi-year extension according to reports.

While financial details of the contract have yet to be made publicly available, sources indicate that a deal was struck late Wednesday night to keep Horst in the fold for the foreseeable future. The Bucks have reached the playoffs in every season in which Horst has been GM, and sport a .647 win percentage during his tenure as well.

“Just the news I’ve been waiting for,” Bucks coach Doc Rivers said after Thursday’s practice. “I’m just very happy for him. He’s done an amazing job. We have an amazing relationship. It just creates stability. I just am a big believer in stability in organizations. That’s how you build teams.”

The 42 year old helped put together the roster for the Bucks 2021 NBA championship winning team, while also taking home 2019 NBA executive of the year honours as well. Horst’s deal was set to expire at the end of the season, but management clearly weren’t interested in allowing their GM to hit the open market.

Milwaukee went 48-34 this season, good for 5th place in the Eastern Conference. However, they currently find themselves in an 0-2 hole against the Indiana Pacers in their first round playoff series. With the series shifting back to Milwaukee for Game 3 on Friday, Horst and the rest of the Bucks fanbase will hope that the team can lean on their strong home record (27-14) to get them back in the win column.
