The Philadelphia Eagles and centre Cam Jurgens have come to terms on a 4 year extension which will keep him under team control through 2029.
The deal, which is worth $68M and sports an average annual value of $17M per season, will feature $39.4M in guaranteed money. Those figures put Jurgens second on the list of highest paid centres in the NFL, sitting just behind Creed Humphrey of Kansas City.
A former 2nd round pick out of Nebraska, Jurgens was entering the final year of his rookie contract with the Eagles. Still just 25 years old, the former Cornhusker finished 10th in the league in pass-block win rate last year at 95%, and was subsequently rewarded with his first Pro Bowl selection.
Philadelphia’s front office has placed an emphasis on shoring up their offensive line for the long term over the past several seasons. In addition to Jurgens’ new deal, the Eagles have also extended Lane Johnson, Landon Dickerson, and Jordan Mailata through at least 2027 as well. Having continuity in the trenches is sure to keep both QB Jalen Hurts, and all-world running back Saquon Barkley happy as well.
Jurgens did however battle injuries down the stretch in 2024, serving as a back up in the NFC Championship game vs. Washington due to a back injury. The veteran lineman would ultimately undergo a back procedure in February after the Super Bowl to help alleviate nerve pain. Team doctors believe that he will be back to full speed this summer and isn’t at risk of missing any training camp time.
Selected 51st overall back in 2022, Jurgens also sports positional versatility as well, having played guard for all of 2023, before eventually shifting over to centre following Jason Kelce’s retirement in 2024.
