The Arizona Cardinals and tight end Trey McBride have come to terms on a new 4 year, $76M contract extension, with $43M in guaranteed money. The deal, which will average out to $19M per season, is the richest deal for a TE in NFL history.
McBride is fresh off a Pro Bowl season in which he caught 111 passes for 1,146 yards and 2 TDs. His new pact exceeds that of Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce who previously had the highest AAV for a tight end at $17.125M per year.
Tight Ends AAV
- Trey McBride, Cardinals: $19 million
- Travis Kelce, Chiefs: $17.1 million
- T.J. Hockenson, Vikings: $16.5 million
- George Kittle, 49ers: $15 million
- Dallas Goedert, Eagles: $14.25 million
- Mark Andrews, Ravens: $14 million
- David Njoku, Browns: $13.69 million
- Cole Kmet, Bears: $12.5 million

Originally drafted in the second round in 2022, McBride has the fourth-most receptions (221) and yards (2,236) amongst tight ends since joining the league, trailing only Kelce, Evan Engram and T.J. Hockenson. His 221 career receptions are the most for a TE through their first 3 NFL seasons in league history.
With the 25 year old now under team control through the 2029 NFL campaign, Arizona can turn their full attention to the NFL draft which is coming up on April 24th. The Cardinals currently hold the 16th overall pick at this year’s event.
