Jacksonville Jaguars Name Finalists For GM Position

The Jacksonville Jaguars have narrowed their search for their vacant General Manager position down to five finalists, with in person interviews expected to begin next week.

Following the hiring of Liam Coen as the team’s new head coach, Jacksonville relieved former GM Trent Baalke of his duties and began their search for his replacement with Coen’s input. Over the last week, the club interviewed at least 10 candidates virtually, with San Francisco 49ers director of scouting and football operations Josh Williams, Los Angeles Rams director of scouting strategy James Gladstone, Chicago Bears assistant GM Ian Cunningham, Green Bay Packers VP of player personnel Jon-Eric Sullivan, and current Jaguars interim GM Ethan Waugh, moving on to the next stage as finalists.

It will truly be a new era in Jacksonville in 2025 as Coen is a first time head coach, none of the five finalists have been a general manager before, and Tony Boselli is just a few weeks into his tenure as the team’s executive VP of football operations.

The Jaguars went 4-13 in 2024 as the team was ravaged by injuries to numerous starters including starting QB Trevor Lawrence, finishing 3rd in the AFC South. As a result, the team will select 5th overall in this spring’s NFL Draft, where they’ll be able to add another blue chip prospect to their young core.

That being said, the team has had a mixed bag in terms of drafting and free agent signings over the last few years. A fact that ultimately led to Baalke’s dismissal as GM. Once the team solidifies their front office, they’ll turn their attention to a pivotal offseason as they look to rebound in 2025.

Despite their poor on field performance, the team only projects as having the 17th most cap space across the league entering the offseason at $35.6M, meaning that whomever is selected, will need to make shrewd use of the resources available to them.

In person interviews are expected to begin on Wednesday, February 19th.
