Senators Nick Cousins To Miss Time With Lower Body Injury

Ottawa Senators forward Nick Cousins is expected to miss some time with a lower body injury after going knee on knee with Toronto’s Jacob Quillan yesterday.

The two forwards collided at centre ice early in the opening period, with Cousins appearing to the take the worst of it. After limping his way back to the bench, he was officially ruled out for the game later on. Ottawa would go on to win the latest instalment of the Battle of Ontario 2-1.

“Just an unfortunate play. Two guys hit each other, knee on knee,” Sens head coach Travis Green told reporters afterwards. Ottawa has yet to provide any kind of timetable for the 31 year old to return, and hasn’t confirmed whether a stint on the IR may be required.

Across 46 games with Ottawa this season, Cousins has five goals and eight assists for 13 points. The veteran forward has provided some sandpaper to the Sens’ bottom 6 group in his first season with Ottawa.

The Senators are next in action Sunday evening at home against the Utah Hockey Club.
