Nike Signs A’ja Wilson To 6 Year Extension

Athletic apparel giant Nike and Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson have come to terms on a new 6 year extension in one of the richest shoe deals in women’s basketball history.

Wilson, whose signature shoe the “A’One” is set for release in spring of 2025, is fresh of a record setting season in the desert, breaking both the WNBA single season scoring and rebounding records along the way. She then went on to capture gold at the Paris Olympics with team USA, and earned tournament MVP honours as well.

The 28 year old averaged 26.9pts/11.9reb/2.3ast per contest for the Aces in 2024, becoming the first unanimous MVP winner since Cynthia Cooper back in 1997.

“It’s been incredible working with Nike toward a dream of having my collection, and it really is an honor to take this next step and become a Nike signature athlete,” Wilson said in a statement back in May following the announcement of her signature shoe. “From my logo to the look of the shoe and the pieces throughout the collection, we’ve worked to make sure every detail is perfectly tuned to my game and style.”

While an exact figure has yet to be publicly released, insiders believe that Wilson’s new deal puts her in the same category as Juju Watkins, Sabrina Ionescu, and Caitlin Clark in terms of total value. Clark reportedly signed an 8 year, $20M contract with Nike earlier this year, with built in escalators and bonuses.

Wilson and the Aces will now turn their attention to the 2025 WNBA draft, where the franchise will need to wait until the 2nd round before making a selection following the forfeiture of their 1st rounder stemming from the WNBA’s investigation into off court activities which concluded earlier this year.
