Dallas Wings Win WNBA Draft Lottery

Dallas Wings Win WNBA Draft Lottery

The Dallas Wings have won the 2025 WNBA Draft Lottery on Sunday and will select 1st overall in next year’s entry draft.

The Wings are fresh off an injury plagued season which saw the team go 9-31, leading to the club dismissing head coach Latricia Trammel after two seasons at the helm. Dallas entered Sunday with a combined 45.4% chance of winning the top pick when their own odds, combined with their pick swap rights with the Chicago Sky.

2025 1st Round Draft Order:

2025 WNBA draft order

  1. Dallas Wings
  2. Los Angeles Sparks
  3. Chicago Sky
  4. Washington Mystics
  5. Golden State Valkyries
  6. Washington Mystics from Atlanta Dream via Dallas Wings
  7. Phoenix Mercury*
  8. Indiana Fever
  9. Seattle Storm
  10. Chicago Sky from Connecticut Sun
  11. Minnesota Lynx
  12. New York Liberty*

*New York has the right to swap its own first-round pick for Phoenix’s own first-round pick.

The lottery win means Dallas will be able to select the player of their choosing in next year’s draft, though it’s widely expected that UConn star Paige Bueckers will be the first player off the board. Bueckers has been one of the most high profile college players since she committed to the Huskies, but has seen her collegiate career derailed by a series of injuries.

The 6′ guard is currently averaging 21.3pts/3.7reb/4ast per game for the 2nd ranked Huskies in the early goings of the 2024-25 season. The draft is also likely to feature several other high profile players including Kiki Iriafen, Azzi Fudd, and Olivia Miles.

Picking 5th overall in each round will be the expansion Golden State Valkyries franchise, who will hold their expansion draft on December 6th. The Las Vegas Aces do not have a 1st round selection as a result of the league’s investigation into violations regarding impermissible player benefits.

The 2025 WNBA Draft will take place on Monday April 14th, 2025.
