Portland Trail Blazers guard Shaedon Sharpe is likely to miss the start of the regular season after an MRI confirmed that he suffered a left shoulder tear.
Scans revealed a small posterior labral tear in his left shoulder, which is likely to sideline him for the next 4-6 weeks. Sharpe appears to have avoided the need for surgery, and will begin rehabbing the injury this week at the team facility.
The 21 year old was the 7th overall pick in the 2022 NBA draft, and figures to play a pivotal role for the rebuilding Trail Blazers this season. However, the injury comes on the heels of an injury plagued 2023-24 campaign in which he was limited to just 32 contests.
The Canadian battled an abdominal injury for much of last season, which sidelined him on two separate occasions. The latter of which resulted in season ending surgery, cutting short a promising sophomore season.
Sharpe saw his numbers improve across the board in virtually every statistical category last year. He, along with Scoot Henderson, Anfernee Simons, and the recently drafted Donovan Clingan will be expected to help usher in a new era in Portland in the coming years.
