Evidently Caitlin Clark wasn’t kidding when she quipped that she planned to “become a professional golfer” during her first offseason. The Indiana Fever guard is officially set to take part in the LPGA’s upcoming Pro-Am event in November dubbed “The Annika”.
Named after LPGA Tour icon Annika Sorenstam, the event will be held at the Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, FL and will coincide with the Women’s Leadership Summit. Clark has also been invited to be a panelist at the event as well.
“I love golf so the opportunity to play in the pro-am for a tournament with a legend like Annika Sorenstam’s name on it is so exciting,” Clark said. “I’m looking forward to seeing all the LPGA players on the driving range, being part of the Women’s Leadership Summit, and, of course, teeing it up in the pro-am with Annika.”
Gainbridge, which is the presenting sponsor of the event, is no stranger to the reigning WNBA rookie of the year. The WNBA’s Indiana Fever play out of the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis, and likely had a hand in helping to make the crossover happen.
The 2024 Women’s Leadership Summit is scheduled for Tuesday November 12th, with the Pro-Am event set to kick off the following day.
