The jersey worn by Bronny James during his Las Vegas summer league debut has sold at auction for $38,400 Sotheby’s announced.
The buyer, curator of the “Lakers Shrine” David Kohler, is an avid Los Angeles Lakers memorabilia collector and is believed to own one of the largest private collections of Lakers collectibles in the world. A collection which Kohler has been assembling for over 45 years.
The number 9 jersey was worn by the younger James on July 12th when his team lost 99-80 to the Houston Rockets. Bronny recorded 8pts, 5 reb, and 2 steals during the contest.
By comparison, last year’s number 1 overall pick Victor Wembanyama’s summer league debut jersey fetched $62K at auction, before seeing his regular season debut jersey bring in $762K not long after. That being said, this year’s number 1 overall pick, Zacchari Risacher, was only able to bring in $3,300 for his summer league debut jersey with the Hawks.
Los Angeles officially kicks off their 2024-25 NBA campaign on October 22nd in a showdown with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
