DOLPHINS, TYREEK HILL AGREE NEW THREE-YEAR, $90 MILLION RESTRUCTURE
The Miami Dolphins have restructured the contract of superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill, giving him a much deserved pay raise, as first reported by NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe on Saturday.
Hill remains under contract with the Dolphins for the next three years and does not receive any new years added to his original four-year, $120 million deal. The new restructured contract is worth $90 million over the next three years and includes $65 million guaranteed. Including previously guaranteed money, the four-year total of fully guaranteed money for the eight-time Pro Bowler is now $106.5 million, the most ever for any receiver.
Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Hill was due $88 million over the next three years, including this year and now gets $90 million. Hill’s original deal saw him earn $45 million in the last year of his contract, which was never intended to be collected.
The new deal is a flat contract that will earn Hill around $30 million a year, retaining the 30-year-old’s position as one of the highest paid receivers in the NFL. The deal was negotiated by Hill’s agents Drew Rosenhaus and Jason Rosenhaus.
A win-win for both the team and the player, Hill now gets more money and the title of the most fully guaranteed money for a wide receiver in NFL history. The Miami Dolphins, on the other hand, get to keep their star player happy without having to reset the receiver market. Hill’s deal doesn’t surpass Minnesota Vikings’ Justin Jefferson in total value or annual average compensation but is still a significant deal in the wide receiver market considering the amount of guaranteed money involved.
Hill told Around The Bar Podcast this offseason that he would like to retire as a Miami Dolphin and now has a chance to see his dream come true. “I love Miami, I love every bit of it,” said Hill. “My wife loves it, the kids love it, my mom loves it and it’s just a beautiful city to live in. It’s so much stuff to do.”
“Obviously, I would like to retire in Miami but we all know how the NFL is, how jobs go, and people getting promotions over here, we understand that. Miami is a great city, I love the team that I play on. I love the guys in the locker room, I love the head coach, I love the GM. So, that means, sign me. I love all you guys so much, I want to stay in Miami forever. This is great, keep me there.”
The move to extend Hill is the latest by the Dolphins who have had a busy offseason locking down the core of their offence for years to come. Miami extended 2021 sixth overall pick Jaylen Waddle in May after coming to terms on a three-year, $84.75 million extension and eventually signed franchise quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to the richest contract in franchise history last month – a four-year, $212.4 million deal.
Both Waddle and Tagovailoa are now tied to the Miami Dolphins through the 2028 season while Hill is locked down through 2026.
The new contract caps what has been a wildly successful week for Tyreek Hill. The South Georgia-born playmaker was voted as the no.1 player in the NFL by his peers earlier in the week, the first wide receiver to hold the top spot in the NFL Top 100 in its 14-year history, and was revealed as a Madden 99 Club member and the fastest player in the upcoming Madden 25 game on Friday.
“That’s my dawg, that’s my dawg,” said Tua on Hill being voted no.1 on the NFL Top 100 list. “Oh my gosh, he was excited. We all were in a group chat, we all texted him. Jalen Ramsey, Terron Armstead, Raheem Mostert, Jaylen Waddle, we were just all congratulating him.”
“There were some funny things that we threw in there just to, you know, give him a hard time but for the most part… For the most part, that was unbelievable. To have a teammate like that voted, just best in the league, it can’t get any better than that.”
One of the most explosive wideouts in NFL history, Hill is on a trajectory to be a Hall of Fame wide receiver. The six-time All Pro is just 12 touchdowns shy of Buffalo Bills’ Andre Reed’s touchdown total, which would make him 18th all-time with 88 scores and boasts more than a few NFL records.
Hill registered 119 receptions for a franchise-record 1,799 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns last year and was on track for 2,000 receiving yards before he sustained a high ankle sprain in Week 14 against the Tennessee Titans on Monday Night Football. Hill is also the first wide receiver in NFL history to have consecutive 1,700+ receiving yards seasons.
