Nationals Prospect Dylan Crews To Make MLB Debut

Washington’s top prospect, outfielder Dylan Crews, will make his highly anticipated Major League debut Monday against the New York Yankees the club announced.

Crews, who was Washington’s top ranked prospect and the 5th ranked player overall in the minors, began the season at Double-A before being promoted to Triple-A later this summer. Across 100 minor league games, the former 2nd overall draft pick has hit .270 with 13 HRs, 68 RBIs, and 25 SBs.

In a corresponding move, the Nationals optioned catcher Riley Adams back to the minor leagues to free up a roster spot for Crews. The 22 year old will now be the 8th Nats player to make their MLB debut this year as the club shifts towards a youth movement down the homestretch of the season.

Currently 11.5 games outside the final NL wildcard spot, Washington has little to play for over the final month of the season. However, they’ll be able to give fans a glimpse into the future as many of their top prospects are now either already at the Major League level or knocking on the door.

Alongside Crews, outfielder James Wood (.284 with 5 HRs, 28 runs and 30 RBIs across 48 games) has impressed in his rookie campaign thus far. The two batters will look to form a solid core the team can build around, joining established players CJ Abrams (23), and Luis Garcia Jr. (24) on the club’s MLB roster.
