The Colorado Avalanche have signed defenceman Oliver Kylington to a 1 year contract the club announced Monday afternoon.
Kylington returned to NHL action last season following an 18 month absence from the sport for mental health related reasons. When he resumed play, he suited up for 33 contests for Calgary in 2023-24 recording 3 goals and 5 assists.
Originally drafted by Calgary in the 2nd round (60th overall) of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, Kylington has appeared in 201 career games at the NHL level. During that time he’s amassed 17G, 38A and 52 PIM.
The 6′ 183lbs blue liner has represented his native Sweden at the IIHF World Junior Championship, while also suiting up for Sodertalje SK Jr., Farjestads Jr., and AIK back home as well. The Stockholm native made his NHL debut with the Flames on April 9th, 2016 vs. the Minnesota Wild.
Kylington is expected to solidify the Avs bottom 6 pairing alongside Calvin de Haan this fall. He joins a defensive unit anchored by Devon Toews and Cale Makar, as well as veterans Samuel Girard and Josh Manson.
