The Detroit Lions kept their busy offseason humming along as the club announced they had reached a 3 year contract extension with left tackle Taylor Decker. The new deal is worth $60M and will include $31.83M in guaranteed money.
Decker’s agent Jonathan Feinsod, of AMDG Sports, announced the deal on social media Monday morning.
The 30 year old offensive lineman was entering the final season of his current deal, but will now be tied to the Lions through the 2027 campaign. Decker becomes the 2nd Detroit tackle to receive a big money extension this offseason, joining Penei Sewell who previously inked a 4 year, $112M contract.
Originally selected 16th overall out of Ohio Stats in the 2016 NFL Draft, Decker has appeared in 112 games in the NFL, all with the Lions. The former Buckeye suited up for 15 games with the Lions last season, and was a big reason for the club’s turnaround along with the rest of the offensive line.
Taylor and Sewell formed a solid bookend for Detroit, while Frank Ragnow was able to clog up the middle, allowing Jared Goff and company to guide the team to an NFC Championship berth. The Lions’ wins over the Rams and Buccaneers were the franchises first post season wins since 1991.
