PWHL Toronto announced Thursday that they had reached a two year extension with blue liner Allie Munroe to keep her with the team through the 2025-26 season.
Munroe played primarily on Toronto’s 2nd defensive pairing for much of the inaugural PWHL campaign, and registered 6 points (1G, 5A) across 24 regular season contests. The former Syracuse University standout averaged 21:43 of ice time during the postseason, and accumulated 13 hits in 5 playoff games.
“Allie plays a reliable physical game that deepens our backend. She is a fierce competitor and an incredible teammate,” said General Manager Gina Kingsbury. “She exemplifies the values of our organization. We are thrilled to have Allie on our blue line for the next two seasons.”
The 27 year old becomes the first player to re-sign with Toronto this offseason as the exclusive window ahead of the June 21st free agency period nears a close.
“I am so excited that I’m coming back to Toronto for two more years! I’m very grateful to continue my career and to be given the chance to play for this incredible organization,” Munroe said in a prepared statement. “I am looking forward to continuing to play in front of the best fans in the PWHL and to have the opportunity to compete for the Walter Cup!”
Prior to the signing, Toronto had 11 players under contract for 2024-25. That list included forwards Victoria Bach, Jesse Compher, Maggie Connors, Emma Maltais, Sarah Nurse, Natalie Spooner and Blayre Turnbull; defenders Renata Fast, Kali Flanagan and Jocelyne Larocque; and goaltender Kristen Campbell.
