The Kansas City Chiefs have come to terms with tight end Travis Kielce on a new 2 year contract extension which will add two years onto his current deal and keep him tied to the franchise through 2027.
Fresh off another Super Bowl winning campaign, Kelce’s new deal adds another $34.25M to his current contract and makes him the highest paid tight end in the NFL. Despite battling numerous injuries in 2023, Kelce made his 9th consecutive Pro-Bowl, catching 93 passes for 984 yards and 5 TDs in the process.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes chimed in on social media, posting “I told yall I’ll never let him leave!! Congrats my guy!” on Twitter shortly after news of the extension went public.
Over an 11 year NFL career, the 34 year old tight end has amassed 11,328 receiving yards and 74 TDs ranking 4th and 5th all-time at his position respectively. Originally taken in the 3rd round out of Cincinnati by the Chiefs back in 2013, Kelce will look to continue to climb the all-time offensive ranks as he closes out his career with Kansas City. After that, a first ballot trip to Canton is likely in the cards for the Uber-productive former Bearcat.
