Guhle suspended for slashing

Guhle Suspended For Slashing

Montreal Canadiens defenceman Kaiden Guhle has been suspended 1 game for slashing Philadelphia Flyers forward Travis Konecny on Thursday.

The NHL Department of Player Safety announced the ruling after reviewing Guhle’s slash from the bench midway through the 2nd period.

Guhle wasn’t penalized on the play in question, but will now sit for his team’s next game on Saturday vs. Carolina. Montreal would go on to win the game 4-1 with the 22 year old blue liner recording an assist in the victory.

Immediately after the game, Konecny’s teammate Garnet Hathaway told reporters “I think the league will look at something that they saw during the game that the refs told us they didn’t see..I think that will come to light in a little bit.”

The NHL DOPS was brief in their assessment of the situation.

“Montreal Canadiens defenseman Kaiden Guhle has been suspended for one game, without pay, for slashing Philadelphia Flyers forward Travis Konecny during NHL Game No. 1152 in Montreal on Thursday, March 28, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.”

“Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, Guhle will forfeit $4,496.53. The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.”

Across 68 games in 2023-24, Guhle has accumulated 6G, 15A, and a -9 rating for the Canadiens.
