Shaedon Sharpe Out 6 Weeks Following Surgery

Trail Blazers shooting guard Shaedon Sharpe will be out for at least the next 6 weeks following successful surgery on Friday to address a core muscle injury that has been hampering him since mid-January.

Initially labelled a lower abdominal strain, Sharpe ultimately went under the knife to address the issue after suffering a setback in his recovery plan. Portland says that they will re-evaluate the 20 year old in late March.

That being said, with the Trail Blazers sitting second from last in the Western Conference, it’s entirely possible the team ultimately opts to shut down their promising sophomore for the year as the team will be well out of playoff contention by that point.

Currently averaging 15.9pts/5reb/2.9ast per game while shooting .406 from the field, Sharpe is a key piece of Portland’s future alongside Scoot Henderson and Anfernee Simons. In his absence Matisse Thybulle has seen an uptick in usage. However the team clearly misses the London, ON native’s offence as Thybulle is known for his defensive contributions and not his 5.5pts per night on the offensive side of things.

Portland is next in action Saturday night at 10pm ET against the New Orleans Pelicans.
