Seattle Kraken forward Pierre-Edouard Bellemare will miss the next 4-6 weeks with a lower body injury sustained in his team’s 4-3 overtime loss to the Stars on Monday.
Bellemare exited the contest at the 3:40 mark of the 2nd period after blocking a shot from Dallas blue liner Thomas Harley. The 38 year old has 5pts (4G, 1A) across 29 games this season after signing a 1 year deal with the Kraken in the offseason.
Originally deemed “week-to-week”, it was later revealed that the veteran forward sustained a broken bone in his leg and would require a stint on the IR. In his place, Devin Shore will likely see an uptick in usage, while Kole Lind could also see some bottom six minutes as well.
Despite averaging a career low 9:34 in ice time, Bellemare has never the less played an important role at the face-off dot and on the penalty kill for coach Dave Hakstol’s squad.
Seattle currently sits at 11-14-9 on the year, 16pts behind the division leading Golden Knights. However they’ve now picked up points in 5 straight contests to reinsert themselves into the Western conference wildcard mix.
The Kraken are next in action on Saturday December 23rd against the Anaheim Ducks in an 8pm ET showdown.
