2023 Heisman Trophy Finalists Named

Three quarterbacks and a wide receiver will make up the finalists for the Heisman Trophy this season, as voters announced the 4 player quartet Monday.

LSU’s Jayden Daniels, Oregon’s Bo Nix, Washington’s Michael Penix Jr., and Ohio State receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. will vie for this year’s trophy at a ceremony Saturday in New York. Sports books were quick to install Daniels as the hands down favourite for the award at -1400 odds.

Jayden Daniels, LSU QB: -1400
Michael Penix Jr., Washington QB: +900
Bo Nix, Oregon QB: +2200
Marvin Harrison Jr., Ohio State WR: +20000

The 6’4″ Senior threw for 3,812 yards and 40 TDs against only 4 INTs leading to a 95.7 QBR on the season. However it was his dual threat ability which truly separated him from the back as he added another 1,134 yards on the ground with 10 rushing TDs.

Penix Jr., is the only finalist whose team made the College Football Playoff as his Huskies are set to take on the Texas Longhorns in the semi-finals in a few weeks time. While that may earn him some votes from the panel of media and former Heisman winners, he remains a distant 2nd at 9 to 1 odds to bring home the hardware this weekend.

Bo Nix completed a successful season at Oregon, but would be hard pressed to leapfrog Penix Jr. in the eyes of voters after his Ducks suffered not one, but two losses to the Huskies this season. While Marvin Harrison Jr. is a lock to be a top pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, he’s unlikely to garner many 1st vote place votes when all is said and done Saturday.

The Heisman ceremony takes place at 8pm ET on December 9th in New York City.
