Justise Winslow will be headed north of the border after agreeing to a deal with the Toronto Raptors the club announced.
Winslow spent the previous two seasons with the Portland Trailblazers where he suited up for 40 contests, 21 of which were starts. Last year the 27 year old averaged 10.7pts/6.3reb/2.9ast on 40.5% shooting from the field.
The former 10th overall pick has spent time with the Trailblazers, Grizzlies, Clippers, and Heat during his NBA career, with his most efficient season coming back in 2018-19 in Miami.
While financial details of the contract have yet to be announced, it’s widely suspected that Winslow signed a non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 deal with Toronto. If so, the former Duke standout will likely spend time with the Toronto’s G-League affiliate, and receive a $75,000 bonus if he logs over 60 days with the Raptors 905 franchise.
Winslow’s deal adds depth to Toronto’s forward position, and gives GM Masai Ujiri another NBA level body to deploy in the event of injury or early season trade.
In a corresponding move, the Raptors waived centre Makur Makur to make room for the Houston native. Hours later, Winslow himself was waived with the intention of sending him to the G-League.
