Kylian Mbappe Out 3 Weeks

French powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that star Kylian Mbappe will miss the next 3 weeks of action due to a thigh/knee injury.

The 24 year old suffered the injury after being tackled by Montpellier midfielder Leo Leroy in the 21st minute of PSG’s 3-1 victory Wednesday.

Scans showed no structural damage, however the club plans to play it safe with their all-world talent to ensure he’s 100% before returning to the pitch.

The current recovery timeline almost certainly rules him out of the club’s next 3 matches vs. Toulouse, Marseille, and Monaco. The French squad has also reportedly ruled Mbappe out of their 1st leg UCL matchup vs. Bayern Munich on Feb 14th.

The round of 16 matchup with the German club would represent two weeks from his initial injury, meaning that too many things would need to go right in his rehab in order to be ready for the high profile clash.

The French International has recorded 13 goals across 19 Ligue 1 matches this season with PSG. The club currently owns a 16-3-2 record and sit 5pts clear of 2nd place Marseille on the leaders table.

Making matters worse, Serigo Ramos was also injured in the same match vs. Montpellier as well.

PSG coach Christophe Galtier indicated that Ramos hurt his adductor in the 1st half but doesn’t believe it will be a long term injury.

“Sergio preferred to leave and not to take risks because of the discomfort he felt in his adductor,” Galtier told reporters following the match.

“Concerning Kylian, there was a challenge after a dribble, he took a blow on the knee, behind the knee, so on the knee and on the muscle. Is it a bruise, a haematoma? We don’t know yet.”

“But also when you look at the run of games obviously he can’t take any risks because we have a very busy schedule. But apparently, it doesn’t seem to be very serious for either player.”

Paris Saint-Germain is next in action against Toulouse Saturday Feb 4th.
