Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Morgan Rielly and 3x Olympic gold medallist Tessa Virtue have announced their engagement.
Virtue, 33, and Rielly, 28, have been dating for 3 years and had met through mutual friends. The Canadian figure skater made the revelation on an appearance on the “Without Losing Your Cool” podcast earlier this week.
Over the course of her career with partner Scott Moir, Virtua won a total of 5 Olympic medals and 3 World Championships. The pair announced their retirement from competitive figure skating back in 2019.
Meanwhile, Rielly is currently in his 10th season with the Toronto Maple Leafs where he’s accumulated 17pts (all assists) in 23 games played. The Vancouver native is in the first season of an 8 year/$60M contract extension with the Leafs which should help cover costs of the couple’s upcoming nuptials.
