Verbal agreement between Endrick and Real Madrid
A football gem is set to make his first European move. According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Endrick Moreira has reached a verbal agreement with Real Madrid to join the Spanish club in 2024. As reported by the journalist, the UEFA Champions League winners will pay Palmeiras €72 million (€60 million fixed fee plus €12million in taxes) to sign the youngster.
“Real Madrid have full verbal agreement in place to sign Brazilian gem Endrick (2006 born), here we go,” wrote Romano on his Instagram account. “Nothing has been signed yet, but all parties have now agreed on every detail of the deal, including club and player side.”
It has also been reported that due to the fact the center forward is still 16 years old, Endrick will only join the Los Blancos’ squad in the summer of 2024, when he turns 18.
The Brasília-born striker, who moved to São Paulo to play for Palmeiras academy in 2016, has gone through a successful journey through the club’s system and has recorded incredible numbers playing alongside his teammates, with 86 goals in 126 matches.
Undoubtedly, his outstanding performances with Palmeiras academy began to attract the attention of many inside the football community, but this year’s Copa São Paulo, the most famous youth tournament in Brazil, was the turning point in his career.
The youngster not only won the most important youth title in Brazil, but he was also named the best player of the tournament, with six goals in seven matches played.
It didn’t take long after that until Endrick finally got his chance to prove his value with Palmeiras’ senior squad, and last October the youngster made his professional debut during his team’s 4-0 victory against Coritiba.
Since his professional debut, Real Madrid’s new player has scored three goals and provided one assist in seven matches. In addition to being part of the squad that gave Palmeiras its eleventh Brazilian title, the youngster also had a victorious year playing for the club’s youth teams, as he won the U20 Brazilian Championship and the U17 Brazilian Cup.
Just like any other Brazilian talent that attracts the attention of the football world at a young age, Endrick’s name has been linked with many European clubs throughout 2022 before reaching today’s agreement with Real Madrid.
According to the Brazilian outlet UOL in January, the two main clubs from Manchester and Liverpool were monitoring the striker to make their first proposal. It was also reported by the Brazilian newspaper Globo that Paris Saint Germain offered €58 million to sign the Brazilian, but the offer was denied by Palmeiras.
In addition to reaching a deal with the Spanish club, the 16-year-old has also been called up today by Ramon Menezes, Brazil’s U20 coach, to be part of the squad that will represent the country during the Torneio Sul-Americano Conmebol 2023 from Jan. 19 to Feb. 12.
