The St. Louis Blues have placed defenseman Torey Krug on long-term injured reserve (LTIR) effective Tuesday morning.
The 31 year old is currently dealing with a lower body injury and will be re-evaluated in six weeks.
St. Louis is currently 16-16-2 and sit 5th in the Central Division. In 31 contests this year, Krug has recorded 5G and 12A for 17pts, 8 of which have come via the powerplay.
Prior to going down with the injury, the Michigan native had recorded 5A in his last 4 games played. Krug is a major piece of the Blues defense corps, logging 19:37 worth of ice time each night and is a loss the team can ill afford at the moment.
His powerplay presence and willingness to block shots (43 thus far) will be sorely missed for a Blues club that currently sits 5pts back of the final wildcard spot.
In a corresponding move the Blues announced they would be recalling defenseman Tyler Tucker from the Springfield Thunderbirds of the AHL. The former 7th round pick has notched 13pts through 24 games played so far in 2022-23.
St. Louis is next in action Tuesday evening vs. the Toronto Maple Leafs.
