The jersey worn by Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry during Game 1 of the 2022 NBA Finals just sold at auction for $203,330.
During Game 1, which the Warriors would ultimately lose 120-108, Curry set an NBA Finals record for most 3 pointers made in a single quarter when poured in 6 vs. the Boston Celtics in the game’s opening frame.
The sharpshooting veteran recently became one of only 10 players in league history to win 2x MVPs, and a Finals MVP. This, coupled with the fact that he’s now the NBA’s all time leading 3 point shooter, a record he’ll be adding to on a nightly basis until he retires, has fueled a surge in demand for Curry related collectibles on the secondary market.
The 34 year old’s jersey saw an astounding 101 bids on the NBA Auctions platform which is significantly higher than most items see. A figure that speaks volumes regarding the collectibility of Curry paraphernalia at the moment.
While the $200K figure falls well short of any of the all time records for game worn basketball jerseys, very few active players command the kind of six figure sum that Curry’s Game 1 piece of memorabilia does in the current marketplace.
The all-time record for an NBA jersey at auction was $3.69M for a game worn Kobe Bryant jersey from his rookie season.
