Paris Saint Germain ready to sign Inter Milan defender
The French champions are close to signing Milan Skriniar, Inter Milan’s center-back, as reported by Sky Sports Italia. The club from Paris are ready to send a €60 million offer to the team from Milan and it seems that the Nerazzurri’s directors are happy with the bid.
Initially, Inter’s officials were willing to receive an offer around €80 million to sell the 27-year-old defender. However, the €60 million bid is likely to convince the club to sell the player and add money to its finances.
It is also reported by Sky Sports that Inter Milan is willing to ‘sacrifice’ Skriniar to bring their main targets for the next season, Paulo Dybala and Romelu Lukaku.
“It’s certainly easier to replace a centre-back than a striker. Probably we will be forced to sell someone in that position,” said Giuseppe Marotta, Inter Milan’s CEO during an interview last Monday.
The Slovakian defender is one of the pillars of the Italian club and he played 48 out of the 52 matches the team played last season. Alongside Bastoni and De Vrij, the defender guaranteed the security in Inter’s defensive third which led the team to reach the second place in both Serie A and Italian Cup.
Skriniar’s signing tends to be one of the numerous acts that will be part of the revolution Luis Campos, PSG’s new sporting director, wants to implement inside the club’s locker room.
One of his ideas is to prevent PSG from prioritizing the recruitment of big stars which the French club used to do in the past few seasons and focus on bringing in players that have already proved their value on a different team, such as the Slovakian defender.
“Luis Campos has built his reputation on his ability to discover talent that has been exploited at the highest level,” wrote Marc Mechenoua, on goal.com. “From Thomas Lemar to Bernardo Silva passing through Osimhen or Jonathan David, the list is too long to give it exhaustively.”
In addition to the defender’s arrival, Paris Saint Germain are also close to completing the signing of the youngsters Vitinha, Portuguese midfielder coming from Porto FC, and Gianluca Scamacca, Italian striker from Sassuolo.
