Triple H Retires

Current WWE exec, and former 14 time world champion wrestler, Triple H is calling it a career.

Known outside the ring as Paul Levesque, the WWE legend told ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith that he will not perform in the ring again due to heart complications. The 52 year old reportedly went into heart failure last September after contracting viral pneumonia.

Levesque recounts coughing up blood, and requiring multiple procedures to remove fluid from his lungs. At times he said, there were moments he wasn’t sure whether he would make it. The WWE Hall of Famer also revealed he now has a defibrillator in his chest as a result of his health scare.

The New Hampshire native made his in ring debut with WWE in 1995. From there, he would go on to have some of the most iconic matches of the late 90’s and 2000’s. A member of the WWE Hall of Fame group “D-Generation X”, Levesque was a five time Intercontinental Champion, and two time Royal Rumble winner during his nearly 3 decade run with the promotion.

Triple H last appeared in the ring back in 2019, and has since been focusing on his roles as a WWE executive and head of NXT. Levesque is married to Stephanie McMahon, daughter of CEO Vince McMahon, and has long been thought of as the “heir apparent” to take over the WWE brand with his wife when the time comes for Vince to finally step down.

In addition to his 14 world titles, Triple H also claimed 3 tag team championships, two unified WWE tag team championships, and two European championship belts throughout his career.

Now retired, Levesque plans to spend more time with his three daughters Aurora Rose, Murphy Claire, and Vaughn Evelyn, while continuing his boardroom duties with the WWE brand.
