DeAndre Hopkins is seeking a second opinion on his injured knee. Hopkins, who hasn’t exceeded 87 yards receiving in a game thus far in 2021 injured his knee late in Monday night’s showdown with the Rams.
After skipping Wednesday’s walkthrough, Adam Schefter reported that the Cardinals are considering shutting Hopkins down for the remainder of the regular season in an attempt to save him for the playoffs. The star WR underwent an MRI on Tuesday and is hoping to avoid surgery at this time.
Slated for a showdown with the lowly Lions this week, fantasy owners can immediately rule out Nuk as there’s no way the Cardinals will risk rushing him back to the field against Detroit. While this would usually have all the telltale signs of a run heavy gamescript with the Cardinals likely to be up early, suddenly Arizona finds themselves with multiple question marks in their backfield.
James Conner, who’s been on a tear recently, also skipped Wednesday’s walkthrough and according to Kliff Kingsbury is day to day with an ankle issue. Meanwhile, the Cardinals designated Chase Edmonds for return from IR last week, but have yet to activate him. In his 8 full games before injury he only topped the 65 yard mark twice and will likely be eased back into action if he’s available this week.
As a result you can expect Kyler Murray to take on a dual-QB/RB role, similar to what Lamar Jackson has done in Baltimore, this weekend. Secondly, Rondale Moore, Zach Ertz, and AJ Green will all get slight bumps to their stocks. And finally, for those who are extremely thin at the RB position, you can consider taking a flier on Eno Benjamin as he could be in line for his biggest workload to date.
