Front Office First Round Draft

The boys from the Front Office Podcast go pick by pick for the 1st round of the 2021 NFL draft.

Ever wonder why the GM of your favourite team never picks the player you want? Think you could do a better job?

Well, so do we!!!

That’s why the Front Office decided to throw together a Mock Draft and take the players we know these teams want to take but let their years of scouting and player personnel experience get in the way….

So with that, here we go with the alternating pick selection of the Front Office Podcast 2021 Mock Draft!

  1. Jaguars (Kev)- Trevor Lawrence

Analysis: No analysis, Kev makes the pick before the draft even starts

  1. Jets (Kyle)- Justin Fields

Analysis: Not sold on Zach Wilson, and if the Jets want to do it right, they’ll take Fields

  1. 49ers (Jet)- Zach Wilson

Analysis: Jet is giddy with Wilson’s potential and his wishes to get Jimmy G off the 49ers roster take the next step to coming true!

  1. Falcons (Kev)- Patrick Surtain Jr

Analysis: Kev tries to trade someone else’s pick, but is stopped in his tracks. Scrambling to fill a need for Atlanta, he addresses their needs in the Secondary with Surtain

  1. Bengals (Kyle)- Penei Sewell

Analysis: Kyle makes the pick we all know the Bengals should make (even though they probably won’t)

  1. TRADE! Broncos via Dolphins (Jet)- Trey Lance

Analysis: Jet moves up with himself, and gets the Broncos a boom or bust QB prospect to build around (Terms TBD)

  1. Lions (Kev)- J’Marr Chase

Analysis: The pick is made extremely quickly as Chase falls right into the Lions lap and becomes the best weapon the Lions have had since Megatron

  1. Panthers (Kyle)- Kyle Pitts

Analysis: The easiest pick since the Jags took Lawrence. GM Kyle picks his namesake to shore up the Panthers offense around Sam Darnold

  1. TRADE! Dolphins via Broncos (Jet)- Devonta Smith

Analysis: In the trade down he made with himself, Jet still lands the guy he was targeting with the #6 selection (Terms TBD)

  1. Cowboys (Kev)- Caleb Farley

Analysis: Addressing a need, Kev ignores the injury history and plugs Farley in as the Cowboys new shutdown corner

  1. Giants (Kyle)- Micah Parsons

Analysis: Parsons fall becomes the Giants gain here as Kyle tabs his as the new general of the Big Blue Defense

  1. Eagles (Jet)- Jaycee Horn

Analysis: Very refreshing for Eagles fans to have their GM select the best player available at a position of need to boot!

  1. Chargers (Kev)- Jaylen Waddle

Analysis: Kev ignores the need for a Left Tackle and stacks the weapons for the Charger Offense

  1. TRADE! Colts via Vikings (Jet)- Rashawn Slater

Analysis: Kyle fields trade offers for this pick, and eventually gets Jet to bite with the Colts. Jet gives up the #21, 2022 1st rounder (becomes a 2023 1st and 2022 4th if this pick goes to the Eagles) and a 2021 4th rounder for the #14 and a 2021 5th rounder. Big trade up, but Jet gets his Left Tackle for the next 10 years to protect Carson Wentz

  1. TRADE! Dolphins via Patriots (Jet)- Najee Harris

Analysis: Another pick, and another Trade by Jet. He gives up a kings ransom to trade within division, and finishes the rebuild of the Dolphins Offense with a 3 down back in Harris (Terms TBD)

  1. Cardinals (Kev)- Elijah Moore

Analysis: Not knowing the draft involves other positions other than Receiver, Kev goes back into the barrel and tabs Moore as the next slot Receiver for the Cards

  1. Raiders (Kyle)- Christian Barmore

Analysis: Jon Gruden makes a surprise appearance to pick the big Defensive Tackle from Alabama to shore up the Raiders run defense

  1. TRADE! Patriots via Dolphins (Jet)- Mac Jones

Analysis: The Pats trade down, get a bunch of extra assets, and STILL wind up with Jones. Jethro knocked this one out of the park (Terms TBD)

  1. Washington (Kev)- Rashod Bateman

Analysis: Kev=Receiver : Receiver=Kev

  1. TRADE! Steelers via Bears (Kyle)- Christian Darrisaw

Analysis: Kyle moves the Steelers up ahead of the Vikings to snag the best Left Tackle on the board and solidify the biggest area of need. They give up the #24, 2021 3rd rounder and a 2022 3rd rounder to the Bears

  1. TRADE! Vikings via Colts (Kyle)- Alijah Vera-Tucker

Analysis: A big trade down with the Colts netted the Vikings some good future assets, and they still end up with a player they would have considered at 14

  1. Titans (Kev)- Samuel Cosmi

Analysis: Kev sees where the trend is going with Offensive linemen and snags one to keep Derrick Henry in the 2000 yard club

  1. Jets (Kyle)- Travis Etienne

Analysis: The transformation of the Jets Offense should be pretty fun to watch with Fields and Etienne

  1. TRADE! Bears via Steelers (Kyle)- Kwity Paye

Analysis: After missing out on getting their next QB, the trade down with the Steelers allows the Bears to let the board fall to them and end up with the top Defensive end on their board

  1. Jaguars (Kev)- Teven Jenkins

Analysis: “If Trevor Lawrence is the Ferrari, then Teven Jenkins is the insurance”- Kevin Kelly

  1. Browns (Jet)- Gregory Rousseau

Analysis: Although this pick was made before the Browns signed Jadaveon Clowney, this pick still makes sense long term for the Browns, and Jet shows some love for his Countryman!

  1. Ravens (Jet)- Rondale Moore

Analysis: Ripping the heart out of Kyle’s chest with this pick, Jet takes Moore to turn the Ravens offense into a track team

  1. Saints (Kev)- Terrance Marshall Jr

Analysis: You could hear Aaron Rodgers groan all the way from Green Bay when Kev made this pick to keep Marshall in the Bayou and help the Saints offense retool

  1. Packers (Kyle)- Landon Dickerson

Analysis: The two players Kyle was going to take here went back to back right before, so Kyle decided to go with a new protector for Aaron Rodgers, although Kadarius Toney was very strongly considered.

  1. Bills (Jet)- Liam Eichenberg

Analysis: Jet plays it safe instead of taking a pass rusher, but wants to surround his franchise QB with more protection (take notes NFL GMs!)

  1. Chiefs (Kev)- Quinn Meinerz

Analysis: The BOMBSHELL of the draft! Kev takes the Division III darling who has been rocketing up draft boards and makes the dream come true by taking him at the end of round 1

  1. Buccaneers (Kyle)- Jeremiah Owusu-Karamoah

Analysis: The Buccaneers (and Kyle) are absolutely giddy that this weapon is somehow still around when their pick comes around. The rich get MUCH richer!
