Eagles Ink Bradberry to 1yr Deal

JAMES BRADBERRY SIGNS $10MILLION DEAL WITH THE EAGLES

Former New York Giants cornerback James Bradberry has agreed to terms with the Philadelphia Eagles on a one-year deal, the club announced on Wednesday. The former Pro Bowler will stay in the NFC East for at least another year on a deal worth $10million.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Eagles are set to pay Bradberry $7.5million, including $7.25million guaranteed, with the remaining $2.5million in incentives, bringing the total value of the deal to $10million.

The acquisition is perfect for the Eagles who make another post draft addition to a talented roster late in the offseason. Bradberry will pair with four-time Pro Bowler Darius Slay in what is set up to be a formidable secondary with 2018 fourth-round pick Avonte Maddox playing inside at the nickel position.

The deal means the Giants will have a larger dead cap hit ($11.7million) to have James Bradberry play for the Eagles than the Eagles are actually paying him ($10million). The New York Giants cut James Bradberry on May 9th in a bid to save at least $10.1million on this year’s salary cap after his current contract became unfeasible. Bradberry’s initial salary cap charge for 2022 was $21.9million.

The move caps the Eagles’ impressive offseason in what is a testament to Executive Vice President and general manager Howie Roseman and his consistent message in recent years: The acquisition period doesn’t end at the draft.

The team also acquired former Tennessee & Indianapolis wide receivers AJ Brown and Zach Pascal, linebackers Haason Reddick and Kyzir White through trade and free agency, and drafted Jordan Davis, Cam Jurgens, and Nakobe Dean in the first three rounds of the NFL Draft. They also re-signed six-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Fletcher Cox, 25-year-old defensive end Derek Barnett, and 2019 interceptions leader Anthony Harris.

The Philadelphia Eagles play the Lions on Sunday, September 11th for their season opener in Detroit.
