According to a report from The Athletic, at least 5 members of the Basketball Hall of Fame class of 2022 induction list have been leaked.
While a formal announcement isnβt expected until Saturday, reports indicate that NBA players Manu Ginobili and Tim Hardaway will headline a class that also includes WNBA icon Swin Cash, and coaches George Karl & Bob Huggins.
Ginobili famously helped guide San Antonio to 4 NBA titles between 2003 and 2014 as part of their βBig 3β with Tim Duncan and Tony Parker. A two time All-Star, Ginobili took home the 6th man of the year award in 2008 and had his number 20 retired by the Spurs.
Hardaway was a five time All-Star whose jersey was retired by the Miami Heat in 2009. He currently holds the Heat franchise record for career 3 pointers made with 806. His most notable season came in 1997 when he was named to the All-NBA first team.
Hardaway also holds the dubious distinction of having the worst single game shooting performance in NBA history following an 0-17 game against the Timberwolves in 1991.
Cash, who is currently an executive with the Pelicans front office, was a 3 time WNBA champion and is one of the most widely respected players in league history. During her playing career she averaged 10.7pts/5.3reb/2.4ast over 479 WNBA games. A four time WNBA All-Star, Cash also collected two Olympic Gold medals with team USA.
George Karl was head coach of six NBA franchises during his illustrious career with stops in Cleveland, Golden State, Milwaukee, Sacramento, Denver and Seattle along the way. Karl coached in 4 NBA All-Star games, and was named NBA Coach of the Year in 2013. He currently sits 6th all time on the NBA coaching wins list with a 1175-824 career record.
Meanwhile Huggins has been a fixture in college hoops for 4 decades, with two NCAA Coach of the Year awards on his resume. The 68 year old has spent the past 15 years at West Virginia and has accumulated over 900 wins during his career on the sidelines.
The induction ceremony for the class of 2022 is currently scheduled for September 10th.
