Tremaine Edmunds Out For Season

New York Giants linebacker Tremaine Edmunds will be out for the remainder of the season following a torn a chest muscle the team confirmed.

Edmunds, who signed with the Giants in the offseason, was the team’s leading tackler and was tied for the team lead with 2 sacks through 6 games. It’s a significant blow a Giants linebacking group that is already without Chauncey Golston for the year due to a neck injury of his own.

The 28 year old was hurt on one of the final plays of Sunday’s 34-27 loss to the New Orleans Saints. According to reports, Edmunds wanted to attempt to play through the injury, but the team’s medical staff believe that surgery and a rehabilitation program was the best course of action.

At 3-2-1 the Giants currently sit atop the NFC East standings despite losing QB Jaxson Dart for the year due to a knee injury earlier this month. With the division wide open, and no clear favourite separating themselves from the pack, Edmunds wanted to keep himself available for his new team down the stretch.

In his absence, veteran defender Micah McFadden will take on a greater role and is expected to wear the green dot and communicate plays on defence. It will likely be a defensive showdown this weekend as the team is slated to take on the Houston Texans in a 1pm ET road game.
