The New York Knicks and free agent John Konchar have come to terms on a new deal which will allow the veteran forward to compete for one of the team’s two open roster spots.
Konchar spent the 2025-26 NBA season with the Memphis Grizzlies and Utah Jazz where he averaged 4.4pts/4.3reb/2.1ast across 19.9 minutes per night. The 30 year old saw an uptick in his usage when he joined Utah for the final 26 games of the season.
With over 360 games at the NBA level on his resume, Konchar was easily one of the more experienced options remaining on the free agent front. In signing with New York, the 8 year veteran will join a roster whose championship window remains firmly intact, and gives the Knicks a reliable option off the bench as a depth piece.
According to reports, New York is also looking at bringing in centre Drew Eubanks on a short term deal as well to compete for the final open roster spot this season. The reigning NBA champions lost longtime centre Mitchell Robinson to the Celtics in free agency as the club was unable to match Boston’s offer without also incurring steep penalties under the NBA’s luxury tax thresholds.
As a result, Eubanks should get an extended look as a depth addition for the Knicks this coming fall. New York will officially kick off their preseason with an October 5th matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers at 7pm ET.
