The Vegas Golden Knights and captain Mark Stone have come to terms on a new 2 year, $18M extension which will pay him $9M annually.
Stone’s new deal will come into effect following the conclusion of the 2026-27 season, which means he will be under team control through 2029. The 34 year old registered a career high 73 points (28G, 45A) last season, doing so in just 60 games.
The native of Winnipeg, MB, has had a highly efficient, albeit injury plagued career to date. The last time that Stone appeared in 70 games of more was back in 2016-17 when he was a member of the Ottawa Senators. Across 766 career games split between the Senators and Golden Knights, he’s totalled 707 points (259G, 448A) while adding another 97 points across 129 playoff games.
A two time Selke Trophy finalist, Stone was originally drafted by Ottawa in the 6th round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He’s represented Canada internationally on several occasions, most recently at the 2026 Olympics in Italy.
Stone became the first captain in Golden Knights franchise history on January 13th 2021, and helped guide the team to their first ever Stanley Cup championship 2 years later. His 396 points with Vegas and +112 rating are both franchise records as well, making him one of the most decorated players to ever suit up in the desert.
Surrounded by top end talent such as Jack Eichel and Mitch Marner, last year’s Stanley Cup runners up will be hoping to reach their 4th Cup final since 2018 when they take the ice later this fall.
