The summer of Celebrini continues as the uber talented teenager’s 1 of 1 gold outburst young guns rookie card just fetched an astounding $1.28M at auction.
The 19 year old potted 45G and 70A to finish 4th in the NHL in terms of points, and goals scored in 2025-26. He also had an impressive showing at the 2026 Olympic Games, and became the youngest captain in team Canada history for a senior men’s tournament at this year’s IIHF World Championship.
As a result, Celebrini’s cards have skyrocketed in value over the last 365 days, with the latest sale becoming the most expensive non-Gretzky related piece in hockey card history.
The deal, which was brokered by Goldin Auctions, was still well below Wayne Gretzky’s all-time record of $3.75M for a PSA 10 1979-80 OPC rookie card, but eclipsed the likes of hockey royalty like Sidney Crosby, Connor McDavid, Gordie Howe and more. The owner of the card reportedly pulled it in July of this year and was offered $426,000 for the card previously.
“I was watching him in the Olympics, just tearing it up, and then his season with the Sharks — that’s really why I was buying the box,” the collector said prior to the auction. “I was chasing a base Young Guns and ended up getting the grail of Young Guns. It was midnight; wife and daughter were sleeping. I was trying to keep it down, but it was also the biggest pull of my life. It’s a life-changing card for me and my family.”
Fellow phenom, Connor Bedard, still has a gold 1 of 1 young guns card that has yet to surface publicly from the 2023-24 Series 2 release from Upper Deck. At the time of release, there was a $1M bounty put on the card, which has yet to be cashed in on, leaving another potential seven figure card lying in wait somewhere across the globe.
