The Dallas Cowboys and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams have come to terms on a 3 year, $105.9M extension which will feature $101M in guaranteed money.
Williams was acquired by Dallas at the trade deadline last season in exchange for a 2027 1st round pick, a 2026 2nd rounder, and Mazi Smith. In his brief 7 game stint with the Cowboys, the 28 year old posted 21 tackles (3 tackles for loss), 1.5 sacks and an interception.
The Pro Bowler will now be tied to the club through the 2030 season, and becomes the 4th defensive tackle in the league to average more than $30M per season. Philadelphia’s Jalen Carter, Tennessee’s Jeffery Simmons, and Kansas City’s Chris Jones are the other three.
“It’s a big part of all the moving parts that went with our trade last year,” Jones told DallasCowboys.com “I think this kind of, at the end of the day, puts a bow on top in terms of knowing that we’re going to have Q here for the next five years long term, and have Kenny [Clark] out there rolling, the deal we made with Rashan Gary and how we used the pick on [Malachi] Lawrence. All these things, you can’t say they were all tied to just that, but it’s a big deal. And certainly he represents everything that we want in a Dallas Cowboys football player. He’s not only a great football player, but he’s a man, he’s a leader who people in the locker room look to every day. I was just talking to Christian [Parker], he’s the best player out on the field.”
In 2025, Williams finished 6th amongst all defensive tackles in terms of quarterback pressures, despite facing double teams on 40.2% of his snaps. His ability to not only get after the quarterback, but also stop the run is what makes him such a valuable addition to the Cowboys roster. His 19 run stuffs led the NFL last season.
Williams becomes the latest in a growing list of Cowboy players to receive a long term deal over the last year. The club has come to terms with Tyler Smith, Brandon Aubrey, Jake Ferguson, DaRon Bland and Hunter Luepke in recent months as Dallas looks like to rebound from a disappointing 7-9-1 season last year.
The Cowboys will open their 2026 preseason with a game against the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks on Saturday August 15th.
