After months of speculation, Vinicius Junior and Real Madrid have come to terms on a new 6 year deal which will keep him tied to the club through 2032. With his deal set to expire in June of 2027, there was growing concern that a breakup was on the horizon. However the new pact which will now see him at the Bernabeu for the foreseeable future.
“Real Madrid C. F. and Vinicius Jr. have agreed on the extension of our player’s contract, which links him to the club until June 30, 2032,” the club said in a prepared statement.
“Vinicius Jr. joined Real Madrid in July 2018 at the age of 18. In his eight seasons wearing our jersey, he has played 375 matches, scored 128 goals, and won 14 titles: 2 Champions League, 3 Club World Cups, 2 UEFA Super Cups, 3 LaLiga titles, 1 Copa del Rey, and 3 Spanish Super Cups.”
“His contribution to all these titles has been pivotal due to his gameplay, assists, and goals, including those scored in the last two Champions League finals won by Real Madrid: the Fourteenth (Paris, 2022) and the Fifteenth (London, 2024).”
Premier League side Arsenal had shown renewed interest in the 26 year old this summer, causing many to believe that a move out of Spain could be on the horizon. However, cooler heads prevailed, and a long term deal to secure the forward’s services was ultimately hammered out over the last 24 hours.
According to Fabrizio Romano, “My understanding is that after a face-to-face meeting today in Madrid between Vinicius Junior, his agents from Roc Nation and [the] Real Madrid board, the agreement for Vinicius Junior to stay at Real Madrid and sign a new contract is getting really close.”
“Vinicius is increasingly closer to staying at Real Madrid and signing a new contract. Big confidence from Real Madrid. Real Madrid obviously want a final answer from Vinicius Junior in the next, I would say, hours.”
“This is not going to be a long saga. Real Madrid always wanted a resolution for the Vinicius Junior case as soon as possible. Optimism is now absolutely shared between Real Madrid, Vinicius Junior and his camp. The agreement over a new contract is now very close.”
Vinicius appeared in 36 games for Real Madrid in La Liga this past season, netting 16 goals to go along with 5 assists across over 2,800 minutes played. He then went on to score 4 goals in 5 games for Brazil at the 2026 World Cup, underscoring a highly impactful tournament for the talented winger.
The Brazilian joined Madrid as a teenager in 2018 and has been a fixture with the club ever since. “Eight years at the Bernabéu are so short,” Vinicius posted to his social media accounts. “…Six more years and FOREVER, Real Madrid”.
